With funding from the system’s Strategic Initiative funds, the system will launch a four-part Bioscience Initiative in FY09 with many opportunities for students and faculty to benefit. Each part is summarized below with more information available by clicking on the title project.

The Clearinghouse will be a "one-stop-shop" of digital biobusiness related resources including education materials, conference, professional development activities, etc. The website will also include a learning object repository, and will serve as a convener for the other biobusiness initiatives. Please submit YOUR learning object! If you have a classroom activity, diagram, powerpoint, etc. pertaining to any aspect of biobusiness, we encourage you to submit it for inclusion in the Biobusiness Clearinghouse.
Professional Development Workshops
This series of workshops will address the interdisicplinary aspects of bioscience, regulatory affairs compliance, curriculum and strategies for incorporating and assessing skill sets. The project is led by Minneapolis Community and Technical College, with partners St. Cloud State University and Ridgewater College. contact: Rekha Ganaganur, 612-659-6004.
The first workshop will be an overview of bioscience: the current and future trends, Minnesota's bioscience industry, and interdisciplinary bioscience education. The workshop will be August 3 - 6, 2009 at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Register by June 30.
Office for Bioscience Internships and Externships
A new office for bioscience internships and externships will expand opportunities for students and faculty, respectively, to spend time working in industry, a research institute, or state university. Opportunities are posted on the Biobusiness Clearinghouse site. Mobile Science Laboratory Program
This project will leverage the strengths of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to increase bioscience capacity and sophistication for Minnesota's K-12 system. A new mobile science laboratory program is being developed and will serve K-12 students throughout Central Minnesota.
